The administrative supervision of local authorities’ activities

The core role concerning the administrative supervision of local authorities is played by the prefect. The secretary of the local self-government sends all provisions and legal decisions signed by the mayor or issues decided by the council to the prefect to review the legality of acts and decisions. If necessary, the prefect calls for the revision or revocation of the administrative act or measure considered partly or entirely illegal. If this is refused, the prefect can bring the matter before the administrative courts.
